Called Through the Gospel of Christ
-Now that we have focused on the idea of being "called" and the idea of being called "out" of sin
let's look at how it is that God calls us.
-II Tim 1: 8-13
-vs 8 - "gospel"
-vs 9 - "purpose" - once again the same word as Eph 3:11 & Rom 8:28
-vs 10 - "abolished death", "brought life", "gospel"
-I Cor 15: 1-8
-vs 13 - "sound words"
-II Thess 2:14
-God has called us through the Gospel. Therefore, those who are obedient to the Gospel are considered
the "called out" of God and have their citizenship in the kingdom of God - the church.
-Acts 2:47
-In this verse we do not find the word "ekklesia". Instead we find the word "autos"
which according to Strongs has a wide variety of applications including "it, her, them,
etc".
-NAS - "...And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being
saved."
-But, let's consider the context. In this chapter of the scriptures we find the
church being established with those who responded to Peter's message. What was the
message? Was it not the Gospel? Yes.
-So, when these people followed Peter's instructions pertaining to salvation, they were
added to it/her/them. What was the it/her/them? -- The church.
-We must be obedient to become a member in the church - Added by the Lord.
-II Thess 1: 7-8
