-THE LIFE OF CHRIST - THE GALILEAN MINISTRY
-Healing Two Blind Men and A Possessed Man
-Matt 9:27-34
-When we consider this passage in conjunction with the healing of the woman who touched Jesus’
garment and the raising of Jairus’ daughter, we see Jesus placing more emphasis on faith.
-Jesus handled the situation involving the woman
who touched His garment in such a way
that she vocally expressed her faith in the
presence of the multitude.
-When Jairus, who had exhibited faith by coming to Jesus, heard of his
daughter’s death,
Jesus told him, “Be not afraid, only believe”
(Mark 5:36).
-Now, Jesus would test the faith of these blind
men.
-Notice that Jesus didn’t fulfill these men’s request
when they first made it. Instead, Jesus
continued on His way toward a house.
-These blind men showed faith and determination by continuing to
follow – not an easy task
for the blind.
-When in the house with Jesus, Jesus asked them
if they believed He could heal them to which
they answered in the affirmative.
-Then, Jesus healed them and said, “According to your faith be it unto you.”
-Once again, Jesus asked that such a
miraculous work be kept quiet but word was spread
throughout the land.
-In verses 32-34, we find Jesus casting out
another demon. The multitudes marveled and the
Pharisees continued to criticize.
-In these two accounts we find quite a contrast
– two physically blind men healed through
faith and the spiritually blinded Pharisees
choosing to remain in darkness.
