THE PARABLE OF THE HIDDEN TREASURE and THE PARABLE OF THE PEARL
-Matthew 13:44-46
-Both of these parables teach the same main point: The kingdom is worth surrendering/
leaving all else.
-Mark 8:34-36
-Luke 18:22-23
-Notice in the Parable of the Hidden Treasure that the man sold all he had with “joy” (vs
44). In other words, he didn’t act with dread and regret. This is an important lesson for
us. Also, these parables indicate that the treasure and pearl were worth far more
than all that they sold. If not, the men would have partook in losing propositions. In
other words, by selling all they had, the end result was their gain.
-The difference between these two parables is that the man stumbled upon the hidden
treasure while the man finding the pearl of great price was purposely looking for it.
