Satan - A Roaring Lion
-Satan – A Roaring Lion
-Peter’s comparison of the devil to a lion has very much meaning.
-Let’s consider some words used to describe a lion.
-strong, powerful, fierce, ferocious, aggressive, deadly, tactful
-Lion – (Am Her Dict) – defines the animal then says “a person regarded as fierce or ferocious”
-We must remember that the devil is a fierce and ferocious hunter – just as a lion.
-Lions are clever in the way that they hunt.
-They lie in wait for their prey, waiting for the right moment (an opportunity) to attack.
-Eph 4:27 – place = opportunity
-They don’t just run out randomly into a herd of animals. They look for a good prospect.
-a young animal, an injured animal, one who has wandered from the herd, etc
-The devil often times preys on: the young Christian, a Christian in the moment of weakness,
a Christian who has started to wander away
-Lions often times hunt together.
-They organize an attack. The females lie in wait along a known path while the males begin to
roar in order to spook the animals. As the animals begin to scurry down the path, the females
pounce as they pass by.
-Satan also organizes his attack with strategy and does not work alone.
-Eph 4:11-15
-Satan used trickery, deceit and false impressions to lure his victims.
-Then those whom he lures away become his “partners in crime”.
-II Tim 4:3-4
-II John 7-11
-That is why we find so many warnings against false doctrines and false teachers.
-II Tim 3:13
-The devil continues to deceive and those deceived then deceive others.
-There are many people out there who teach false doctrines, not because they are evil people at
heart, but simply because they have fallen into the snare of Satan.
-The devil is adding to his numbers. Matt 7:13
-While Satan has many people going down the wrong path, the right path is still available.
-We need to make sure that we are on the right path and then help others to find that path as well.
To do so, we must teach the truth of God’s word.
-Does it bother you that so many people are on the path to destruction?
