Satan Specializes in Marketing
-If the devil was located in an office, I would venture to say that if we could look at that office and
find a diploma hanging on the wall, it would show us that the devil majored in marketing.
-marketing – (Random House College Dictionary, 1984, Random House, Inc.) – the total of activities
by which possession of goods from seller to buyer is effected including advertising,
shipping, storing and selling
-The purpose of marketing is to attract attention to a product or service and create a desire for it.
-The Good(s)
-The Devil’s goods/services – sin.
-Gal 5:19-21
-vs 19 – flesh – (Strongs) – human nature
-We are fleshly, worldly.
-1 Cor 3:1-3
-They were still immature because they were still worldly.
-James 4:4
-Rom 8:1-8
-Unfortunately, many people fall victim to Satan’s marketing of sin.
-1 Cor 6:9-10
-Rom 1:29-32
-Many people seem to think that they cannot be effected by Satan. “We would never do any of those
horrible things.”
-We must be careful not to categorize sin. Sin of any and all types separates us from God.
-We may sometimes wonder how anybody would find themselves guilty of the types of sins that
we have read about. They usually get there little by little.
-Satan markets sin and tries to draw people into it. But, he often times does it gradually.
-Example of credit cards:
-When you send off for one credit card, what happens? You get flooded with all kinds of
offers from other credit card companies.
-Some people are careless and accept and use far too many of these credit cards and then one
day find themselves consumed with debt.
-That’s how Satan works. If he can get us involved in sin is some way, he’ll continue to work on
us and try to get us to delve a little deeper. Some grow careless and before they know it, they
are consumed with sin.
-1 Cor 5:6
-False Advertising
-Thankfully, we have rules, regulations and agencies which protect against false advertising.
-However, when it comes to Satan, false advertising is one of his specialties.
-advertising – (American Heritage Dictionary) – 1. to call the attention of the public to a product or
business 2. to make public announcement of, especially to proclaim the qualities or
advantages of so as to increase sales
-Again, the devil uses deceit to make his product of sin seem attractive, desirable, enjoyable, etc.
-He tempts us to be his customer.
-His product is sin and he is in the business of causing souls to be lost.
-Temptation
-Matt 4:3 – Satan is described as the “tempter”.
-1 Thess 3:5 – “tempter”
-When the devil markets his products, he is tempting us to partake in them.
-Luke 8:12-13 – parable of the sower
-When it comes to the temptations of Satan, we must overcome.
-1 Cor 10:13
-James 1:2-3, 12
-God has given us the avenue by which we can and must overcome. To do so, we must turn to His
word for guidance, study it for knowledge and apply it in obedience.
