Perhaps you can relate to some of the thoughts within the following:

I look at the checkbook

And the balance hasn’t grown.

It seems that something’s breaking down

On almost everything I own.

I work hard day after day,

Hoping to just get ahead;

And just when I think I might

I take two steps back instead.

But life isn’t going to get me

I’m not just hanging on.

I’ve grabbed on with both hands

In this battle that will be won.

I know what is important;

It is my spirit and my soul.

Life no longer has a hold of me,

Now I am in control.

Satan’s furls, he does throw

Hoping I’ll lose my focus;

But thanks to my Lord and Savior

I will never be hopeless.

So in this merry-go-round of life

Filled with its ups and downs,

I have made my decision

To wear a smile instead of a frown.

So as I continue day by day

In the Gospel of Jesus Christ;

I know that I am rich indeed

For I have been bought with a price.

So when I think of freedom

As I do upon the Fourth;

I think of what’s important

My soul with its great worth.

So, whatever life delivers

I’ll keep my eyes on Calvary.

I know I’m rich beyond measure
