Creation vs Evolution - Lesson #4

The Laws of Science

-Introduction

-Quick review of the previous lessons (1 Pet 3:15, Biblical Age of Earth, Fossils & Geologic

 Time Table)

-Let’s consider yet another area in regards to the theory of evolution:  the laws of science.

-Remember “science” comes from a Latin term meaning knowledge.  Science is in

reference to those things that are known - based upon observation & evidence.

-It amazes me how evolutionists simply ignore the evidence provided by the laws of

science or try to find ways of explaining them away.

-The Law of Biogenesis

-Unfortunately, when looking at the Biology book used in the school system here, I failed to

look up any information presented on certain laws of science.  However, I was able to find

some information in my files from a text book I looked at a few years ago.

-Life Science:  “It was not until the mid-1800’s that Louis Pasteur, a French chemist, showed

conclusively that living things do not come from non-living materials…The work of Redi,

Spallanzani, Pastuer, and others provided enough evidence finally to disprove the theory of

spontaneous generation.  It was replaced with biogenesis, the theory that living things come

only from other living things” (pg 11).

-Yet, in complete contradiction to those facts stated on page 11, the following can be

found on page 12:  “Evidence suggests that life was formed from non-living matter

sometime between 4.6 billion to 3.5 billion years ago”.  However, the sentence does go

on to say, “However, scientists are still investigating where the first life came from”.

-And, notice that the previous reference called biogenesis a “theory” rather than a “law”.

-“In the field of biology, one of the most commonly-accepted and widely-used laws of

science is the Law of Biogenesis.  This law was set forth many years ago to dictate what

both theory and experimental evidence showed to be true among living organisms – that life

comes only from preceding life of its own type or kind” (Thompson, 1995, p39).

-“Through the years, countless thousands of scientists in various disciplines have established

the Law of Biogenesis as just that – a scientific law stating that life comes only from

preexisting life.  Interestingly, the Law of Biogenesis was established firmly in science long

before the contrivance of modern evolutionary theories” (Thompson, 1995, p40).

-Unfortunately, the theory of evolution is still taught in our text books in spite of its clear

contradiction and violation of this law of science.

-The Law of Biogenesis Indicates a Creator

-With the fact that life only comes from life, and we are alive, we had to have an origination.

-Since life cannot come from non-living things, we did not get here by the evolutionary

 teaching of spontaneous generation.

-There had to be a Creator to get life started. – Gen 1:1, Ex 20:11

-Bert Thompson (p42) included a quote from Dr. Robert Jastrow:  “At present, science has no

satisfactory answer to the question of the origin of life on the earth.  Perhaps the appearance of

life on the earth is a miracle.  Scientists are reluctant to accept that view, but their choices are

limited; either life was created on the earth by the will of a being outside the grasp of scientific

understanding, or it evolved on our planet spontaneously, through chemical reactions occurring

in nonliving matter lying on the surface of the planet.  The first theory places the question of the

origin of life beyond the reach of scientific inquiry.  It is a statement of faith in the power of a

Supreme Being not subject to the laws of science.  The second theory is also an act of faith.  The

act of faith consists in assuming that the scientific view of the origin of life is correct, without

having concrete evidence to support that belief.”

-Once again, evidence points to creation – not evolution.

-The Laws of Thermodynamics

-“If the creationists are correct in their statements of the laws of thermodynamics, and in their

assessments and interpretations based on these laws, evolution is immediately and automatically

ruled out by what those in the scientific community readily acknowledge as ‘the most secure

generalizations known to science’ – the laws of thermodynamics” (Thompson, Jackson, p105).

-“Our English word ‘thermodynamics’ derives from two Greek words, therme, meaning ‘heat’

and, dynamis, meaning ‘power’.  Thus thermodynamics is the study of heat power.  Historically,

the subject of thermodynamics arose from the study of heat engines.  Currently, the subject of

thermo-dynamics is much broader in scope, and involves the movement of energy and the

conversion of one form of energy into another” (Thompson, Jackson, p107).

-The information then goes on to explain that energy is required for all natural processes.

-The First Law – “Put into simple terms, the First Law says that naturally speaking, neither

energy or matter can be created or destroyed, but can only be converted from one form to

 another” (Thompson, Jackson, p109).

-Example:  A log burned - Matter is transformed from a solid into fire, smoke, heat, gas, etc.

-The fire, smoke, heat, gas, ash, etc. were not created.  There was a transformation of the log.

-Now try to name one single thing that we can create.  We can’t create.

-We can reproduce life through the processes instilled in our bodies but we can’t create.

-Story of the “scientist” who challenged God. - (i.e. - get your own dirt)

-This shows that everything has a source.  (Example of the building)  We have a source.

-Evolutionists would have us to believe that everything that we see in existence came from

 virtually nothing.

-In the November 1987 edition of Reason & Revelation, Bert Thompson, PhD referred to a 1984

edition of Scientific American which contained the following statement in an article entitled

“The Inflationary Universe”:  “’From a historical point of view probably the most revolutionary

aspect of the inflationary model is the notion that all the matter and energy in the observable

universe may have emerged from almost nothing…The inflationary model of the universe

provides a possible mechanism by which the observed universe could have evolved from an

infinitesimal region.  It is then tempting to go one step further and speculate that the entire

 universe evolved from literally nothing’”

-If it started as nothing, it would still be nothing in accord with the 1st Law of Thermodynamics.

-The Second Law – Simply put, the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics tells us that energy is becoming

less and less useable.  As energy is used and matter consumed, we have less energy available.

-Example of a burning log.  Once again - a log is burned, it’s burned and the log consumed.

-Example of coal being burned to generate electricity.  If we use that electricity to run a can-

opener to open a can of green beans, more electricity is then needed to open a can of corn.

The energy used on the can of green beans is no longer available in useable form.

-However, evolutionists would have us to believe the universe has been a process of a building

up, a winding up – not a winding down.

-Consider this:  If you have a wind-up clock, you give that clock energy by winding it up.  The

energy is then used by the clock as it winds down.

-That’s what happens within this world.  As we use energy it continues to wind down.

-Here’s a question:  Who wound it up?

-Summary and Invitation

-Clearly, the Laws of Science provide further evidence for creation – not evolution.

-Evolution is in direct violation of the laws and therefore should be rejected and discarded.

            -Psalm 33:6-9

-If we truly stand in awe of God, we’ll have a desire to obey Him.  What about you?

-Believe in the One He sent - Jesus (John 3:16, 8:24), Confess that faith (Matt 10:32, Rom

10:9-10), Repent of their sins (Luke 13:3,5; Acts 17:30) and are Baptized for the forgiveness

of sins (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38) are forgiven.  We are then to walk in newness of life (Rom

6:4, Eph 4:22-24) with the blood of Christ continually available to cleanse us from sin

 (1 John 1:7-9).
